My name is Catherine Heinemeyer (there is of course a story behind the performing name ‘Nettlefoot Kate’!) and I am an oral storyteller, based in York, UK. I believe that stories are one of the best ways to educate people about the environment and sustainability. Listening to stories about nature, community, the past and the future, other cultures and other species can open up people’s minds (and hearts) to problems that otherwise seem frightening or complex. It can also celebrate the good relationships they already have with the natural world, and even lead to their becoming tellers of stories themselves.
I tell stories, and run storytelling workshops, in schools, parks, museums, windmills, festivals, observatories, pubs…for both adults, and children of all ages.
Occasionally I take a break from the ‘eco’ side and tell some funny ones just for the craic!
Hi Catherine,
I’ve attached a link to my website – the aim is to show the connectioon between the backroom legal and democtratic administration and real world democracy in action.
thank you,
Alec
Hi Alec,
Thanks for doing that – I will link to your website as well on my ‘blogroll’. Your endeavour is the fruits of many years’ experience trying to bring about real change in the public sector and education, and storytelling is very much a part of that.
